Ethereum 2.0's recently announced deposit contract currently holds 50,849 ETH, which is just under 10% of the minimum required stake the contract must hold before the planned launch on December 1.

New deposits have slowed after the most enthusiastic stakers, including founder of Ethereum Vitalik Buterin, added to the contract within three days of its launch. Ethereum 2.0 stakers must go through a  launchpad to register validators with at least 32 ETH stake each. Stakers will compete for the same rewards, so new entrants will lower returns for others.

Ethereum 2.0 deposits cannot be withdrawn or used until between the implementation of Phase 1 and Phase 2, which could be a ways off. Signing on to stake Ethereum 2.0 means sacrificing liquidity for an investment that has far from certain returns.
