Binance is awarding a team of investigators with $200,000 for submitting a report identifying one of the attackers that attempted to hack the exchange in 2018, according to a recent release.

The statement added that the US Department of Justice has indicted two individuals responsible for the attempted hack and U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control announced sanctions targeting these individuals.

The hackers created websites mimicking Binance’s platform to collect login credentials from users and used that information to target the exchange. The hackers also attempted to manipulate the market by creating Viacoin buy orders with stolen accounts. An additional $50,000 will be awarded to the report authors once the criminals are in custody.
