Crypto lending platform BlockFi has announced plans to roll out their products in Europe next year.

The company has begun testing retail products in Italy and plans to debut in Switzerland, the Netherlands and Italy in the first quarter of 2021. These locations have large markets and strong, clear crypto regulation making them attractive launchpads for European operations.

Notably, the company does not plan to expand operations in the United Kingdom likely due to the Financial Conduct Authority's recent ban of crypto derivatives products in the nation. While BlockFi does not offer derivatives products, leadership believes the move by the FCA does not provide promising signs for the crypto industry in the United Kingdom.
