Binnace founder and CEO Changpeng Zhao stated that he needed to take more proactive measures to block savy US traders from illegally accessing the global exchange during a recent interview with Bloomberg.

He added that Binance needed to be smarter about how it blocks US traders from gaining access to the platform. Binance stopped providing services to US traders in September 2019 citing regulatory concerns.

The provision had been relaxed, but earlier this week the exchange began emailing US residents that they needed to transfer their assets off the platform. The emails redirected users to Binance.US, a separate entity that licenses technology from Binance and receives branding support from the namesake exchange.
