Nimbus, an infrastructure project launched in March 2018 by Status, was awarded a $650,000 grant from the Ethereum Foundation for continuing its work on light Ethereum 2.0 clients, according to a Jan. 28 press release.

The goal of this project is to provide smartphones and embedded devices to run smart contract-capable nodes. The funds that Nimbus received will be used to get into a production-ready state, as the project prepares for testing and eventual release of a client supporting Ethereum’s beacon chain.
