The outgoing US President Donald J. Trump announced today he has nominated Brian Brooks to be Comptroller of the Currency for a term of five years. Brian Brooks served as Acting Comptroller Currency previously, and also served as Chief Legal Officer of Coinbase, Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Fannie Mae, Vice Chairman of OneWest Bank North America, and managing partner of the Washington, D.C. office of the global law firm O’Melveny & Myers LLP. Brian Brooks is an advocate of crypto-friendly reforms and once said that banks can provide crypto-custodial services.
