Visa, as part of a major update of its point-of-sale system, is planning to change merchant fee rates for U.S. based merchants, according to Cointelegraph. We can expect an introduction to higher rates for transactions on e-commerce and lower rates for health care, real estate, and education.

Premium card holders will see a drop of interchange fee of 33% for $50 transactions in large supermarkets. Visa shows a lot of interest towards the fintech sector; in the past the company has bought fintech firm Plaid, participated in $80 million for Currencycloud, and now Binance is allowing users to buy crypto directly through Visa credit and debit cards.
