Hester Peirce, the SEC Commissioner, is looking to give cryptocurrency projects a legitimate shot at success without breaking U.S. securities laws.

The two-year official at the Securities and Exchange Commission, who has been nicknamed “CryptoMom,” has proposed a safe harbor for cryptocurrency projects. The proposal would give cryptocurrency startups a three-year grace period from their first token sale to allow them to reach a level of decentralization sufficient to pass the agency’s securities evaluations.
