The New York Times published a report on Friday revealing claims of a history of discriminatory policies at leading crypto exchange Coinbase.

The report is based off interviews with 23 current and former Coinbase employees who outlined repeated incidents of discriminatory behavior including racial stereotyping and a lack of company-wide practices around the hiring and promotion of Black employees.

Coinbase attempted to head off the negative article with a post to their blog on Wednesday by writing to their employees to provide what they stated was critical context. The negative report comes after a highly criticized policy from Coinbase where CEO Brian Armstrong urged employees to focus on the company mission and steer away from politics and activism.
