The Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority and the Central Bank of the UAE have issued their final report on Project Aber, which was first announced in January 2019. The project explores the use of wholesale CBDC for cross-border payments using DLT. The report pointed out that the trial is divided into three different stages, and gradually expanded to six commercial banks.
