The European Commission is currently receiving feedback from EU citizens, businesses, regulators and other interested parties which will allow them to create a regulatory framework for cryptocurrency assets and markets on a European level.
The European Commission’s Directorate was prompted by the shortage of regulatory clarity and legal certainty in the cryptocurrency industry to create an initiative for the adoption of a European regulatory framework for cryptocurrency assets and related financial services. The public consultation began in December 2019 and is slated to continue until March 19, 2020, with the finalized proposal expected in the third quarter.
