Hester Peirce, an SEC commissioner knew as the "crypto mom", said in an interview with Cointelegraph that decentralized finance (DeFi) has brought new challenges to the SEC. She described DeFi as the ICO boom in 2017, and the rapid development of DeFi has led to many unresolved legal issues, some projects may involve securities laws which make the SEC feel difficult to handle. Peirce said: "What is different here is that the pace of DeFi has actually been much faster. I also think that the legal issues are more difficult to sort out on the DeFi side".
