Blockchain giant Circle announced major upgrades to its platform today. The core new component is a new digital currency native treasury account infrastructure Digital Dollar Accounts, which enables businesses of all sizes to store digital currency locally while maintaining compatibility with traditional electronic currency and payment networks.
The facility supports multiple currencies and blockchains, enabling global digital dollar transactions on public blockchains to scale to thousands of transactions per second, near-instant settlement and transaction costs of less than one cent. The announcement stated that its USDC has experienced explosive growth, from a circulation of $400 million in January to more than $3 billion at present.
