Ruffer Investment, whose assets under management are approximately $27 billion, has invested 2.5% of its Multi-Strategies Fund in Bitcoin. The company revealed this in a memo sent to shareholders today, but the specific number was not disclosed.
According to a temporary document issued by the International Stock Exchange (TISE) on December 14, Ruffer’s 2015 Multi Strategies Fund 2015 Limited totaled $1.5 billion, if we calculate based on this value, Ruffer may purchase as much as $37.5 million in Bitcoin. Ruffer explained: "We see this as a small but potent insurance policy against the continuing devaluation of the world's major currencies," continue wrote: “Bitcoin diversifies the company's (much larger) investments in gold and inflation-linked bonds, and acts as a hedge to some of the monetary and market risks that we see."
