One Chainlink user, dawidkabani13 claimed to have accidentally sent 4,005 LINK, worth around $50,000, to an Aavegotchi (GHST) smart contract on the Ethereum blockchain, which does not support operations for the token.

The user said the contract is immutable, however he is still offering a 1,000 LINK worth $13,000 reward to anyone willing to help.

"I'm just recovering from a terrible loss, I'm a father and husband, and a few days ago I lost my life savings due to one small mistake and rush," the post read.

The smart contract author, Nick Mudge, and the user have both asked Vitalik Buterin in tweets to hard fork and reverse the transaction. Aavegotchi has responded to the mistake, saying reversing the transaction may not be amendable on a technical level. However, the firm set up a donation page for the user.
