According to the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA), major cryptocurrency exchange Binance was never approved to operate in the country.

On Friday, the MFSA issued a public statement, which stated that Binance “is not authorized by the MFSA to operate in the crypto currency sphere.” In recent media reports Binance was being wrongly referred to as a “Malta-based cryptocurrency firm,” while the exchange “may not fall within the realm of regulatory oversight.”
