The report highlighted that DOJ officials do not believe the FBI has a robust enough approach to policing the dark web. The report states that to remedy this, the FBI needs to complete an in-development strategy focused on cryptocurrencies which began to be assembled in 2019.

The report comes as US regulators have begun to pay increasing attention to cryptocurrencies.
