The number of active Bitcoin addresses surged by more than 105% in 2020, reaching 1.2 million, according to a report posted by Coin Metrics today.  

In pace with Bitcoin's market cap has increased by more than $300 billion in 2020, the number of addresses holding at least 0.01 Bitcoin also increased by more than 700,000. The report attributes this to the participation of institutional investors and predicts that 2021 will be a stronger year for Bitcoin.
