While Bitcoin's price has been closing on recent highs, the cryptocurrency has been seeing some volatility over recent days and altcoins continue to drift lower.

This trend has held true for the past several months suggesting that Bitcoin's rally will not pull the rest of the market along with it. Altcoins will likely see continued weakness if they do not consolidate with Bitcoin.

At the time of writing Bitcoin is trading hands at $28,675 and is up 7.71%. For the rally to continue, Bitcoin will likely need to pass $28,000 and set new highs above $28,500. One popular crypto commentator stated in a tweet that as long as Bitcoin holds above $27,500, he expects it to continue moving slowly towards $30,000.
