Ether has outperformed Bitcoin this year gaining 150% more over the course of 2020, data from CoinMarketCap shows.

Ether gained 450% over the course of 2020 while Bitcoin gained only 300%. The cryptocurrency rose to a 31-month high of $757 on Wednesday and at the time of writing is trading hands at $741.58. Ether gained lots of value during the DeFi boom in 2020 and stronger gains could be expected in 2021 if the industry continues to grow.
