Dfinity, the blockchain-based cloud computing project backed by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and Polychain Capital, announced the official launch of its "Internet Computer" mainnet. The Internet Computer, which aims to compete with cloud computing systems such as AWS, is said the world's first blockchain to run at network speed, and its capacity can be increased unlimitedly to host or store any number of smart contracts and data.

The mainnet is hosted by standardized "node machines" that are independently owned and installed within independent data centers, which have been placed under the control of the Network Nervous System (NNS).NNS is an open algorithm management system and part of the protocol system, the protocol securely combines the computing power of node machines to create an Internet Computer blockchain network, so that the network has autonomy and adaptability.
