SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce spoke broadly on the problems with cryptocurrency legislation in her first comments since the SEC filed a lawsuit against Ripple alleging the company offered unregistered securities.

In a recent interview with Forkast Peirce stated that enforcement may not be the best course of action to provide legal guidance. She did not want to speak specifically about any one cryptocurrency, but stated that everyone has to look at the facts and circumstances. She added that litigation often ends in a settlement or occasionally plays out in court.

Peirce also claimed that federal agencies in the United States are not aligned in their views towards the status of cryptoassets. She called for more clarity among organizations about cryptocurrency regulations. Peirce has often been called 'Crypto Mom', but emphasized that her views were her own and did not represent that of her colleagues at SEC or the agency as a whole.
