Social media platforms like Twitter have rushed to expel supporters of the storming of the US Capitol on Wednesday, sparking fierce debate on crypto Twitter.
President Donald Trump was first barred from Facebook and then Twitter due to the risk of inciting furter violence. Conservative social media platform Parler was taken offline after Amazon refused to service its cloud infrastructure. Later it was banned by Google and Amazon from their app stores.
The libertarian base of crypto Twitter was divided on the issue with some arguing that Big Tech was censoring the President, while others argued that private companies have the right to do anything they want with their products.
Compound founder Robert Leshner wrote in a tweet that while President Trump has been the worst in American history, Twitter should not be able to censor world leaders. Meanwhile CEO of Shapeshift Erik Voorhees tweeted Trump has no right to shout over Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey's platform than Dorsey has to scream from Trump Tower.
