The decentralized virtual game platform - The Sandbox publishes its ASSET smart-contract security update today. The Sandbox indicates that ASSET smart contract was vulnerable to a duplication issue, however, this issue has not been exploited by any malicious user. Furthermore, all other smart-contracts are NOT affected - neither SAND nor LAND smart-contracts are at risk. Regarding this, all major marketplaces trading The Sandbox ASSETS (including OpenSea, Arkane Marketplace, Lootex, Playdapp, iNFT) were notified on January 13th, 2021, and already halted transfers of ASSETS on January 16th, 2021 at 00.01 UTC. The Sandbox has redistributed ASSETS to 2,684 unique users who hold 115,926 copies of 87 unique ASSETS. The distribution is expected to be completed before Monday 18th 00:00 UTC.
