The Department of Justice will be participating in a new initiative at Stanford University to introduce more advanced technological tools in its fight against monopolies, according to an announcement on Tuesday.
The Department of Justice will be joining regulatory watchdogs of 46 other countries and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission in Stanford's Computational Antitrust Project. The project aims to bring together academics from a range of backgrounds with developers, policymakers and regulators. The DoJ’s antitrust leader, Makan Delrahim, gave a farewell address at Duke University’s Center on Science & Technology Policy Tuesday in which he urged the antitrust division to devote greater resources to becoming more technologically advanced.
“I expect the Division will play a critical role in ensuring market conditions are conducive to unleashing blockchain’s revolutionary potential,” Delrahim said.
The announcement comes as regulators in the United States have turned greater attention towards cutting-edge technology and antitrust law.
