Heath Tarbert, chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), ended his tenure as the 14th chairman on Thursday. However, he is still one of the five Commissioner till April 13, 2024.

According to Reuters, Chris Brummer, a professor from Georgetown University has become the main candidate for the new chairman. Brummer was nominated as a CFTC commissioner by former President Obama in 2016. He has presided over the Fintech week meeting and has also discussed cryptocurrency and CBDC at the CFTC technical consulting conference.
