Chamath Palihapitiya, the CEO of Social Capital and owner of Virgin Galactic, a well-known Bitcoin advocate, is running for California governor.

Palihapitiya stated on his campaign website: "California is a mess — it's too expensive, our teachers are underpaid, and our schools aren't good enough."

Highlights of his campaign include reducing California's state tax (16%) to zero, making California a global technology and climate work center, and setting the minimum wage for teachers at $70,000.

Palihapitiya is a Bitcoin supporter, early this January, he predicted in an interview with CNBC that Bitcoin may soar to $200,000 in five years.
