The chip giant Nvidia announced that it will launch a new processor chip CMP (Cryptocurrency Mining Processor) specially designed for Ethereum mining.

Nvidia emphasizes their major product GeForce RTX GPU is mainly for gamers, not for miners. starting from February 25th, NVIDIA will adopt the RTX 3060 software driver to detect specific attributes of the Ethereum mining algorithm. If mining activity is detected, the driver will limit its hash rate to about 50%.

The announcement stated: "Creating tailored products for customers with specific needs delivers the best value for customers. With CMP, we can help miners build the most efficient data centers while preserving GeForce RTX GPUs for gamers."
