Silicon Valley venture capital a16z (Andreessen Horowitz) announced on Wednesday that it is leading a $25 million Series A funding for Optimism, a layer 2 scaling solution built specifically for the Ethereum network.
The company wrote in the post: "One of the most exciting things about what Optimism has built is that it can be seen in many ways as an extension of Ethereum — from its philosophy down to its tech stack."
Optimism rolled out its preliminary mainnet in January, and will be ready for large-scale production later this year.
