According to a press released by New York Times, billionaire Mark Cuban's Dallas Mavericks will team up with BitPay to accept Dogecoin (DOGE) as a payment method for tickets and merchandise.

As for the reason, Cuban said: "Because we can. We have chosen to do so because sometimes in business you have to do things that are fun, engaging, and hopefully generate a lot of PR. So we will take Dogecoin, today, tomorrow, and possibly forevermore."

By doing so, Dallas Mavericks becomes the first merchant to accept DOGE and the second NBA team to accept Bitcoin as a payment method.
