The Canadian Securities Regulatory Commission (CSA) and the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC) jointly issued a securities regulatory requirement for Crypto Trading Platforms (CTP), mainly focusing on the provision of CTPs for the trading of security tokens and cryptocurrency contracts , and detailing the steps that platform operators need to take when preparing to fully integrate into Canadian regulatory agencies.

In the future, the Canadian Securities Regulatory Commission plans to study the regulatory framework for over-the-counter derivatives dealers and markets. The overall goal of the approach outlined in this Notice is to ensure there is a balance between needing to be flexible in order to foster innovation in the Canadian capital markets and meeting our regulatory mandate of promoting investor protection and fair and efficient capital markets.
