According to The Block, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is seeking to investigate customer transaction records of crypto exchange Kraken as part of its investigation of crypto users from 2016 to 2020.

To obtain the taxpayer information, the tax arm of the Department of Justice has filed a petition to the Northern District of California District Court for the issue of the John Doe Summons.

If approved, the IRS will make a request to Payward Ventures Inc. and its affiliate (Kraken) to obtain customer records with cryptocurrency transactions of up to $20,000.
