According to The Block, CME Group earned $4.7 million in revenue from its Bitcoin futures product in the first quarter of 2021, which is higher than the entire 2020, said Senior Managing Director Sean Tully on the earnings call.

Despite the success of Bitcoin futures, Tully stated that its investment threshold limits the customer base.

The specification of the Micro Bitcoin Futures Contract to be launched on May 3 is 1/10 of the standard Bitcoin contract and 1/50 of the Bitcoin futures contract, which is expected to attract more retail and institutional customers to participate.
