During CNBC's Squawk Box podcast on June 8, Marc Lasry, Avenue Capital Group co-founder and billionaire investor regrets not buying more Bitcoin.

He said: "The probability as more and more people keep using Bitcoin is going to keep moving up. It's happened a little bit quicker than I thought it would. I should have bought a lot more."

But he said he was not sure about the next direction of Bitcoin. He said: "I honestly don't know where it's gonna go, but you've got that market. It's there."

In July 2018, Lasry, who claimed that Bitcoin accounted for 1% of his net assets, predicted that Bitcoin will reach $40,000 if it becomes more mainstream, at that time BTC was trading at $7,400.
