The Central Bank of Portugal (Banco de Portugal) stated in an official announcement that it granted two cryptocurrency exchanges ---Criptoloja and Mind The Coin--- operating licenses for the first time. They are "virtual asset service providers" that can operate businesses in the country.

This is the first time the exchanges obtained operating permits since the new law on crypto trading platforms took effect earlier this year. CEO Pedro Borges told CoinDesk that Criptoloja made its first application on September 29, 2020.
