During the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee hearing held on Tuesday, Brian Nelson, who was nominated by Biden as the Deputy Secretary of the Terrorism and Financial Crimes Department of the Treasury Department, said that the Anti-Money Laundering Act of 2020 passed by the Congress this year will give the authority's ability to regulate "whatever form" of currency. 

Nelson will focus on anti-money laundering regulations once his position confirmed, cryptocurrency will be a special priority item. 

He said: "If I am confirmed, I will prioritize implementing that piece of legislation, including new regulations around cryptocurrency."
