Coinbase's Crypto Custody Business Got A Green Light In Germany

The German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) announced on Monday that it has approved the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase to conduct cryptocurrency custody business in the country. 

According to BaFin, this will make Coinbase Germany the first company authorized to provide crypto custody services in Germany

Since this is a new business model, BaFin has also built an interdisciplinary and interdepartmental team responsible for overseeing any issues related to crypto custody. 

Previously, the Japanese regulatory agency FSA has approved Coinbase to enter the Japanese cryptocurrency market.
