NBC News reported that local residents living near the Bitcoin mining facility in northern New York's Seneca Lake complained that the temperature of the lake has risen astonishingly.

Local residents described it like this: "The lake is so warm you feel like you're in a hot tub."

Last month, local residents held a protest against the Bitcoin mining farm Greenidge Generation, claiming that it is polluting the air and raising the temperature of the lake due to the use of fossil fuels.

However, Greenidge, a unit of private equity firm Atlas Holdings, told NBC that the lakeshore facility is operated within its federal and state environmental permits.
