Tetra Trust Company announced that it obtained a registration certificate issued by the Alberta Provincial Government on July 5, 2021, becoming Canada's first qualified and regulated cryptocurrency asset custodian.

The company also announced the end of multiple rounds of financing. Participants include Coinbase Ventures, Canadian Securities Exchange (CSE), Coinsquare, digital payment and financial technology companies Mogo, Urbana Corporation, Caldwell Growth Opportunities Fund, etc.

Prior to the launch of Tetra, the Canadian cryptocurrency custody market was limited to U.S. companies and some unregulated domestic custodians.
