During a one-on-one conversation between Kristalina Georgieva, the President of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and John Rolle, the Governor of the Central Bank of The Bahamas, Georgieva mentioned that Bitcoin cannot be classified as a currency, and it needs to be "very widely" accepted which still far from achieved.

Georgieva also expressed concern about the high volatility of cryptocurrencies because it makes taxation, planned spending, and pricing of goods and services challenging.

The president firmly believes that the central bank's digital currency (CBDC) will be the safest payment method. She said that the IMF can provide a platform for countries to realize the interoperability of many CBDCs in the future.

She believes that the strength of the US economy and the depth of the capital market will continue to ensure the reserve status of the dollar.
