Linda Lacewell, head of the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS), announced Friday that she will leave her post on August 24.
Lacewell served as chief of staff and consultant for the current Governor of New York State Andrew Cuomo, and was nominated to lead the New York financial regulatory agency in 2019.
During her tenure, Lacewell modified NYDFS's crypto regulatory license, simplified the state's virtual currency company licensing work, and made it easier for companies to list different tokens for trading.
Earlier this week, after Cuomo resigned due to sexual harassment allegations, Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul will succeed Cuomo after he officially resigns.
