According to a report from The Wall Street Journal on Tuesday, New York State Governor Kathy Hochul has nominated Adrienne Harris as the head of the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS).

Harris is currently a senior consultant for the Brunswick Group, a public relations firm in Washington, DC, advising financial institutions, fintech companies, and venture capital firms. She served as a senior adviser at the U.S. Department of the Treasury from 2013 to 2015, and then as a special assistant at the White House until 2017. 

Harris made almost no public statement on the crypto or blockchain, but she eve participated in meetings to discuss government support for the industry during Obama‘s tenure. 

According to the Wall Street Journal, her goal after taking office is "to ensure we have a robust and fair financial system, and an equitable economy." Harris' nomination is subject to confirmation by the New York State Senate.
