Bitcoin technology company Blockstream has cooperated with Macquarie Group, an Australia-based financial services giant, to pilot a mining facility powered by renewable energy.

Macquarie Group is one of Australia's largest banking groups, providing a series of financial services to investors, companies, and the government.

The two companies will explore carbon-neutral alternatives for mining cryptocurrency, and Macquarie will use its investment to explore opportunities to provide renewable energy to power the mining process.

Blockstream stated that Macquarie will use Blockstream's crypto mining facilities and leverage its expertise in mining hardware hosting. Chief Strategy Officer Samson Mow told CoinDesk that the location of pilot facility will be located in the United States. If successful, it plans to expand to new sites as the green power infrastructure develops further.
