Social media giant Twitter today announced that it has integrated Bitcoin through the Lightning Network and enabled tipping for iOS users. The Android version will be launched soon.
This feature allows users to send tips to others through third-party services (such as CashApp). Bitcoin's integration is aiming to monetize in places where fiat currency may not be easily available.
Product manager Esther Crawford said that Twitter is also exploring other blockchain-based tools such as NFT authentication. Users will directly connect their crypto wallets to their accounts to prove artwork, but the ownership of this product is still in its early stages.
