Christie’s Auctions announced that its global NFT sales exceeded $100 million this week. This milestone was driven by the first NFT auction in Asia. The online auction ended in Hong Kong, China on September 28, with a total turnover of 1.22 Billion Hong Kong dollars (15.6 million US dollars).
Noah Davis, vice president and head of digital sales at Christie's, told The Block that Asian buyers’ interest in NFT sales has increased. He said: "It is incredible that it continues to accelerate, and this interest continues to pour in from new corners of the world."
Christie's will auction a set of NFT CurioCards on October 1. This will be the world's first large-scale real-time bidding auction in the form of ETH. Christie's plans to hold more such NFT auctions in the coming months.
According to data from The Block, weekly NFT transactions dropped from a high of nearly 2 million to 315,000 last week.
