Kraken, the cryptocurrency exchange, donated around 17.513 Bitcoin (BTC), which was equivalent to about $156,000 at the time of donation, to help keep the San Francisco-based hackerspace Noisebridge running.

The donation came after Noisebridge advocate and attendee John Backus sent out a tweet asking for funds. According to Backus, an inspector found that Noisebridge’s sprinkler system was not up to code. Noisebridge required $150,000 to fix the building’s sprinkler system.
