Daniel Ivascyn, the Chief Investment Officer of Pacific Investment Management Corporation (PIMCO), told CNBC that some of PIMCO's hedge fund portfolios are already trading crypto-related securities, the company plans to gradually increase its investment in digital assets.
During the interview, Ivascyn said: "Now we’re looking at potentially trading certain cryptocurrencies as part of our trend-following strategies or quant-oriented strategies, then doing more work on the fundamental side."
PIMCO, founded by "bond king" Bill Gross, is one of the world's leading fixed-income investment management companies. As of December 31, 2020, PIMCO's AUM was $2.21 trillion.
