Former Fed Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan made the keynote speech at global crypto exchange Huobi’s online forum: Huobi Summit 2021. He talks about how in spite of the US’s current economic problems, he believes that the country is still on track to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I’d like to say that while the U.S. is not recovering as quickly as we anticipated maybe 3 or 6 months ago, our GDP is still growing above-trend pace. We forecast GDP growth in the fourth quarter to be in the low 3% range. And while both demand- and supply-side inflationary pressures persist, I am hopeful that there is enough support from other forces in our economy, increased productivity in particular, where if we can get through this current drag, the economy will continue to grow and recover.
