According to a report from CoinDesk, in an interview with Financial News, BlackRock's global head of iShares and index investment Salim Ramji said that the company has "no current plans" to launch cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs).

Ramji admits cryptocurrencies, including stablecoins and distributed ledger technology, are disruptive tech, but due to the "opaque" regulatory framework and liquidity question, BlackRock is currently holding a wait-and-see attitude towards the launch of a cryptocurrency ETF.

In May, BlackRock CEO Larry Fink said that the company is studying the potential of cryptocurrency as a long-term investment.
