According to coindesk.com, Bitmain Technologies has announced a new 7nm Bitcoin mining processor that is said to provide a higher level of energy efficiency.
The new BM1397 chip, which is said to offer improvements in performance, chip size and energy efficiency, is used to mine working proof cryptocurrencies based on the SHA256 algorithm, such as Bitcoin (BTC) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH). According to the announcement, the chip is manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation using the 7nm FinFET process. The BM1397 will consume less power than the previous Bitmain product, and the energy consumption and calculation ratio will be as low as 30J / TH.
